My son, the rat....

Yesterday I had to go get my fingerprints done at a sheriff station for this teacher certification thing I'm doing. The station was at the mall, so I went ahead and brought Caleb along. When we got there he saw the policeman then whispered in my ear asking if he was a real police officer. I said he was, and then Caleb proceeded to tell the officer, "You know, my mommy speeds a little too fast when she's driving." Nice huh? The little traitor!

The policeman just laughed and then ended up doing my fingerprints for free. :-)

Random Act of Kindness Idea.....

Quite awhile ago while I was driving to work I passed by a bus stop where I usually see some homeless people. At the bus stop was a box full of some food. I don't know if it belonged to one of the homeless people that was there or if someone had just left it for someone who needed it, but it got me thinking. I thought it would be a nice idea to leave some food for anyone needy at that bus stop and in some other places I know where homeless people tend to hang out. So last night I got some goodies together and packed up some bags to distribute this morning. My plan is just to do that on a regular basis while I'm on my way to work, but today I wanted to bring Caleb along. I explained to him that some people don't have homes or food to eat and that God would want us to try and help those people if we can. He really wanted to help and decided to wear his Power Rangers costume since he was doing something "super."

My parents came along so it would be easy for me and Caleb to just to hop out and put bags in different places. At one place, while Caleb and I were walking to a bus stop, my dad heard a bottle break and ran over to help a homeless man that had dropped some of his stuff. My dad ran back to the car to get him a bag, and the homeless man was so grateful to have something to eat. At another place, we saw an area under an underpass that had some bedding so we left a bag of food there. While we were looping around later, we saw a man in that area laying on his mat enjoying the food from the bag. Maybe it's not a big deal, but it felt good to help.

Here's what I put on the outside of the bag:

Here’s just a little treat for anyone that may be in need of something to eat.

1 John 3:17-18

17If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 18Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

1 Corinthians 2:9

9However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him."

Caleb's Preschool Graduation

Yesterday was Caleb's last day of preschool. I gotta say that I think it's kinda silly how there are graduation ceremonies for what seems like EVERYTHING now, but it was really cute seeing him walk up and get his little preschool diploma.

I have survived!

I have officially made it to the end of my first semester back in grad school. I think this has been the longest semester in history. I now have three precious weeks to breathe and not worry about homework until summer session starts up. Hopefully this is the toughest semester I'll have, and the rest will be downhill. It's at least nice to know that I got the hardest class over with first.

Motorcyle Man....

So, Caleb's been wanting a motorcycle for a really long time. I was planning on getting him one for his birthday, but I couldn't find one at a good price. (No freakin way I'm going to pay $350 for one!) I ended up finding a great deal on craigslist and went and got it today. Caleb literally screamed at the top of his lungs when he saw it.
